Read The Black Studies Book essay entitled "Black People Must Be Black Centric" (p. 231). From the book Not to Be read "The Hispanic Factor" (p. 15). Be able to expound on the following issues.

(1) What does the essay "The Hispanic Factor" have to do with Black/white relations in the United States?

(2) What are the factors that reduce the integrationist possibilities of Blacks and Hispanics in the United States?

(3) Are there political "tricks" being played and political forces being manipulated that govern the overall quality of Black - Hispanic relations in the United States?

(4) What are the shortcomings of Blacks and Hispanics that make each group potentially dangerous to the other?

(5) On page 31 of Not Dark White, the following appears. What is it referring to?

"Why were Hispanics selected to fulfill America's cheap labor needs? Why not Asians, or Arabs, or Pacific Islanders? Why not other whites, from western or eastern Europe? Why Hispanics? Simply because Hispanics are more like African-Americans than any of the other mentioned peoples.
