Read the essay below. Afterwards,
try to get the best understanding you can of the following questions.
(1) What is the importance of your commitment, input and intelligence
to the realization of Black Power Economics?
(2) Should what you do be predicated on what other Black individuals
do? Why or why not?
(3) What role should guarantees play in your commitment to Black
Power Economics?
Class #12: WHAT GUARANTEES SUCCESS [Audio Version]
Economics is a science; an organized system of activities (some economic systems are more highly organized than others) as opposed to a random series of activities. This will be one of several classes that asks fundamental Economics questions, and answers those questions as simply as possible. The question for this class is, "What guarantees success?"
What Guarantees Success
There are three guarantees to success.
There are three guarantees to the successful emergence of Black
Power Economics as a force to be reckoned with and respected.
Those guarantees are (1) YOUR commitment (2) YOUR input (3) YOUR
intelligence. If you contribute as much time, energy and resources
as you can with the greatest amount of intelligence available
to you, and are committed enough to keep on keeping on for as
long as it takes to get the results you desire, then YOU are the
guarantee of success. Therefore, you should not judge the progress
of Black People's economic endeavors by the results you see, you
should judge it based on your input. Why? Because your input is
100% within your control, while results, in addition to taking
time to make themselves generate results, will depend on a lot
of factors that are beyond your control.
That is why commitment is so important. Commitment will guarantee
that YOU persevere, that YOU keep on doing what YOU know needs
to be done. As long as you persevere, your energy will impact
on all of Us. Black Power Economics will mature and evolve, and
Black People will benefit.
If you keep on keeping on, you will eventually influence the uncontrolled
variables enough to get the result you seek. All you have to do
is keep on keeping on. Don't worry about what other Black individuals
do, you can't control them. The only person you can control is
yourself, and that is important because YOU are as big a key to
success as anyone else.
Individuals who want to do something don't look for guaranteed
success, they look for opportunities to promote their agenda.
If you or anyone else is preoccupied with guarantees, more than
likely, you are not ready to take on the task of advancing a Black
Power Economic reality. Forget about guarantees and get yourself
involved.
