EDUCATIONAL PRIORITIES FOR BLACK EDUCATORS
(1) We have to prepare educators and teachers who are not
afraid or ashamed to act Black and promote a Black reality, a
Black world view.
(2) We must promote an independent educational system that revolves
around Black Studies and stresses the importance of an independent
Black Power base.
(3) Those of Us who teach within the traditional education system
must be daring, creative, assertive and conscious of the legitimacy
of Our uniqueness.
(4) We must make certain that Black students see themselves and
their people playing typically progressive human roles in typically
human developments and appropriate historical developments.
(5) Black teachers must not be afraid to teach the truth. Black
teachers must make young people realize that teaching the truth
is not an illegal activity.

(6) Black teachers must make young people realize that the
truth supercedes financial considerations.
(7) Black educators must introduce new subjects and make them
impact on Black students and the general education arena.
(8) Black educators must approach traditional subjects differently;
that is, from a different philosophical and value-based perspective.
(9) Black educators must employ different educational and assessment
value systems.
(10) Black educators must eliminate the fear or distaste of the
"radical."

(11) Black educators must not question the legitimacy of
representing the essence of Black People.
(12) If you presently teach, make it possible for your students
to take one or more of Aset University's alternative education
courses.
(13) Incorporate information from courses like those at Aset University
and books like Ten Lessons: An Introduction to Black History
into your "traditional" classroom lessons.
(14) Black educators must take every available opportunity to
expose students to the historical, ideological and cultural reality
of Black Nationalism. Black students must hear about Black Nationalism
and be made aware of its relevance to Our future development.
(15) Black educators must teach Black students to continuously
question the motives and actions of each and every political status
quo.
